KD-1215 Gary Davis-Remember Me
The professor’s back! Remember me was written on a bus ride back to Camden, composed and arranged by Davis, in March of ‘79. The first three tune gig Gary got with Peter Brown, the plea for requited love; remember me was recorded at the fabled sound ideas studio in midtown Manhattan. Davis plays on all instruments: bass, keyboard, strings… everything except session musician Michael Campbell’s drums came out of Davis’ hands. This record is one of Gary’s favorites and further illuminates the transitional period between disco that clung to traditional song structure and the appearance of freer dance music with softer borders and hypnotic cinematic themes… a sound that would soon catch the ear of a young Kenny Dope.
