From the dub
oriented summer scorcher “The Curse” by Mr. X, a Northern Jersey
newcomer, to the sounds of Honeysweet by Josh Milan, you are taken
through the musical landscapes and colors of House. Michel Cleis brings us a
dance floor anthem with “Baza SOS Fever” (A Congolese Tribute) and Louie
Vega introduces a brand new Elements Of Life “Let Us Shine” Featuring Josh
Milan with lyrics by Nico Vega along with the jazzy instrumental “Los Tonos
Sagrados” Featuring Axel Tosca. Newcomers Two Soul Fusion who have
remixed the likes of MF Robots, Conclave, Brian Jackson and the soon Robert
Glasper Club Remix have gifted “Dancing In The Streets” showing the demo
stages of their tracks in full form with a summertime vibe. Funki Cadets who
brought you the V.R. Anthem on Launch Entertainment have “World
Collisions” on the Vega Records 5 pack steering you to the underground
sound made especially for the dancers and NYC underground culture. Here’s
a little something about Honeysweet produced by Josh Milan, “Last Night”
featuring Lawrence Clark on sax is the kind of groove that keeps its dance
floor value while holding up the banner of true musicianship. Rhodes, picked
bass guitar, rhythm guitar and drum kit is all that’s needed on this one.
“Exodus” the manipulation of major and minor chords in this groove make it
complex and interesting. The listener is lead by the organ solo featured here.
The song is a mental escape. A mental exodus.
“Being Free” is a message that captures the point of this entire project.
Musical freedom and expression is where this project gets its fuel. Horns, are
included on this production. A true expression of soulful music. “Being free
should be all the time I’m your mind all the time”. Released in 1982, “Konk Party” was the band’s calling card and first hit, and represented their multicultural, no wave, hip-hop/disco hybrid perfectly, the opening sax riff itself a sly nod to Wild Sugar’s breakbeat classic “Bring It Here” that the Beastie Boys would later sample. A Loft staple — the video was even filmed there — “Konk Party” was also played widely across the influential clubs of the day, becoming an instant staple at Danceteria, Mudd Club, and other hot spots. The easy-going groove, heavy on the percussion and low-slung bass, complimented by bilingual lyrics from Angel Quiñones, has dated well, and sounds especially ready for action in this new edit from Mr. K, largely inspired by the original 12-inch’s choice Uptown Breakdown Mix. This is the first time “Konk Party” has been available on 7-inch.

The heavy percussion backing is perhaps the only similar element that links our A-side to its flip, but that only goes to show the breadth of styles that coexisted in the audio landscape of the Loft. “Hold On To Your Mind,” first released in 1970 by Northern Irish rock group Andwella, is a heavy, psychedelic tour de force that more than lives up to its cautionary, heady title. Mr. K has outdone himself with his new mix, a supercharged blend of extended percussion breaks — absent on previous 7-inch mixes — driving vocals, and fuzz guitar. For those who have never been able to track down the original single, an expensive proposition, and even for those who have, this new edit is certainly the definitive version.

["Danny Krivit","Danny Krivit Re - Edit","Disco 45","Disco 7","Disco Classic 45","Disco Classics","discoedits","Mr.K","Mr.K Edits","Rare Disco
"option1":"Default Title","option2":null,"option3":null
["Default Title
["//kaydeerecords.com/cdn/shop/products/IMG-5995.jpg?v=1666988161","//kaydeerecords.com/cdn/shop/products/IMG-5996.jpg?v=1666988160
//kaydeerecords.com/cdn/shop/products/IMG-5995.jpg?v=1666988161
Title

Listen https://youtu.be/SPswZb-2S9U

https://youtu.be/SPswZb-2S9U

Mr. K transports us to the golden era of the Loft with two disparate, but equally heavyweight classics from the Mancuso oeuvre mastered and cut loud, deep, and clear for club play.

First up is an edit of a track that embodies the spirit of early ’80s downtown New York City.
