This is the first work left on the label by Doug Carn, the keyboard player who left the most work on . Legendary drummer Michael Carvin, who also participated in Pharoah Sanders' live album, George Harper on saxophone, Bob Frazier on trumpet, and Al Hall, who is familiar with the Black Jazz Series, are on drums. And Henry Franklin are welcoming the soulful album with the tones of a wide variety of instruments. And his ex-wife singer Jean Carne's singing voice, which is the heart of Doug Carn's work, has the grandeur and beauty that you'll want to hear at the church, and it matches spiritual jazz like this. The combination of the waltz-like song that invites the dance that is fascinating in the second song "Little B's Poem" and Jean Carne's vocals creates a sense of joy, and the title song "Infant Eyes" has a natural flute. Though entering into jazz territory and featuring some distorted guitar, 'Jazz Rock' is more a beautiful marriage of funky breakbeat drumming and spiritual jazz instrumentation, combined with traditional Min'yō music performed on the koto and shakuhachi.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOriginally released in 1973, the record sounds simultaneously vintage and contemporary. It is akin to something Madlib might dream up whilst lost in Japan collaborating with Min'yō players at a recording session. The record features some amazing shakuhachi (bamboo flute) playing by Hozan Yamamoto, which gives the music a haunting, dreamlike atmosphere. You can almost visualise the long grass blowing in the wind, and hear the bamboo rustling in the distance on a long hot summer’s day. Takeshi Inomata, Tadao Sawai and Kazue Sawai anchor the session. Takeshi’s exceptionally funky-drum work will almost certainly get some producers dusting off and firing up their MPC's. Whilst Kazue and Tadao work their magic on the koto (a traditional string instrument).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThough certainly not an ambient record, 'Jazz-Rock' has the same meditative, other-worldly quality that invites you to sit back, listen and be transported somewhere else. Unfortunately, until now the 'Jazz Rock' album is a scarcity that commanded a high price-tag only for the most hardened of record collectors. So it is pleasure to make it accessible to all, and we hope you dig this lost, obscure future-classic as much as we It is akin to something Madlib might dream up whilst lost in Japan collaborating with Min'yō players at a recording session. The record features some amazing shakuhachi (bamboo flute) playing by Hozan Yamamoto, which gives the music a haunting, dreamlike atmosphere. You can almost visualise the long grass blowing in the wind, and hear the bamboo rustling in the distance on a long hot summer’s day. Takeshi Inomata, Tadao Sawai and Kazue Sawai anchor the session. Takeshi’s exceptionally funky-drum work will almost certainly get some producers dusting off and firing up their MPC's. Whilst Kazue and Tadao work their magic on the koto (a traditional string instrument).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThough certainly not an ambient record, 'Jazz-Rock' has the same meditative, other-worldly quality that invites you to sit back, listen and be transported somewhere else. From there, the blistering instrumental “Bubba” unfolds with symphonic horn arrangements setting the scene. But it’s bassist Randy Smith and Jimmy Washington’s locked-in percussion that takes you higher.Throughout the record, this band drops the tempo and mood with ease. Milton Davis' dynamic vocal burns tracks into flames then swiftly pivots into a ballad zone, sending things out to all the ladies in the house. “Back Into My Life Again,” with its chicken scratch guitar and pithy horns, expands and contracts with Davis' vocal enmeshed in the point-counterpoint of dueling guitarists Lewis and Kit Garoutte.\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\"I Shot Him Down\" is the group's take on a canonical Bob Marley cut and features a spoken word intro from Davis.
