Wow, where do I begin, I’m so happy to be able to reissue these 3 amazing tracks by the magical Frank Strazzeri.
Back in the late 80s I picked up the “After the rain” album, because a friend had told me about this amazing jazz funk track called “Cloudburst”, this organic track opens with just a wonderful Rhodes chord sequence that just gets me, every time ooooh! The bass and its laid-back jazz groove begin, then BOOOOM!! Let’s shift it up a gear, Rhoades clav vibe and super funky drums set the pace, with a wonderful added funky horns section Smokin’.
Once the Flute (the one and only Sam most) comes in this track has taken me to the clouds and back. For the perfect 7” cut we have a part 1 & 2.
After listen more to the LP I discover the Gem on the LP title track “After the rain” This just does it in every way, the super sexy Rhodes grooves and solo backed up with the might flute, give this track the 10/10 for laid back groove and possible in my top ten jazz chillers.
The last chosen track is “Blue dawn” a super Jazz sample intro Sam most on the Saxophone with Bobby Shew backing up the Flugelhorn. And the Rhodes solo just creeps up on you.
just Jazz love it Sunday gem.
