The rebirth of legendary Fraternity Records continues in a most appropriate way with a new release from seasoned UK funksters The Grits. With a sound that combines gutbucket Southern funk with a touch of vintage electronics, this new single is a throwback with a quirky retro-futuristic edge. "Tramp" is the latest in a line of neck-snapping renditions of the Otis Redding classic, with a big nod to another British outfit, the Mohawks' ultimate break beat classic "Champ." It's only fitting that one of the architects of the Ultimate Breaks and Beats series, Louis "Break Beat Lou" Flores himself, has joined the Undercover Brother for a signature remix on one side of this record, stripping the elements down to provide DJs with every opportunity to turn heads. Undercover Brother tackles the A-side himself, turning in a typically popping mix that starts with a wicked drum break and doesn't look back. A must for the party crate.
