The one person not surprised by their success, however, was hip-hop pioneer and producer \u003cstrong\u003eKurtis Mantronik\u003c\/strong\u003e, who actually signed them to Fresh Records.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt’s fitting that he’s the man that saw their promise, as he himself was one to go against the grain. He was able to find a brand new copy of the original 45 on Discogs, and made the move to purchase it to have a high-quality audio restoration from the vinyl transferred into digital files to then be cut to lacquer. After acquiring the original version of the 45 it was discovered that the versions on the 45 were just the 12” single versions but faded out to make them fit on a 45.
