DJ Sticky Dojah, hailing from NYC, is excited to unveil his latest record label project—Grand Function Records.

This label is dedicated to bringing fresh tracks to the dancefloor, from unreleased gems to reissuesand original productions. The label was born from Sticky Dojah’s passion for cratedigging and discovering rare, unforgettable sounds—treasures he couldn’t wait to share with the world. One of his most exciting finds came from a trip to New Jersey, where he stumbled upon a record from the obscure Sheyna Records label. The track was by Just Plain English Band, a group that was a fixture on the local New Jersey/NYC scene in the early ‘80s.

After connecting with the original producer, Raymond Mickens, Sticky Dojah and Mickens decided to reissue another of the band's rare records, “Plain English Groove.” Originally released in small quantities, this disco-funk banger has become a highly sought-after collector's item—with copies now fetching high three-digit prices. Rather than a simple re-release, Sticky Dojah and fellow producer Lil’T (Pillow Talk) took the track back to its roots, working from the original master tapes to create a new vocal version and a DJ-friendly disco dub. Mixed by the legendary Kenny Dope and mastered by Herb Powers, Jr., this reimagined version brings new life to the track, ready to light up dancefloors around the world. A superb drum sound with layers of Rhodes, live Bass, Clav, Percussion and Organ, the cut is so soulful it hurts.
